Should You Repair or Replace Your HVAC System? Use our RvR Tool
We often provide quotes to repair AC and heating systems. The most common follow up question from our clients is “How much does it cost to just replace the whole system?”
It's another one of those headaches that no one wants to deal with. Real budget-killers.
We took data from approximately 500 similarly quoted scenarios, mapped out the feedback on our chalk boards like mad scientists, broke out some 11-digit calculators, mixed it with our Master Techs' nearly 80 years of combined experience, added in proper budgeting analysis and created our Repair vs. Replacement Tool, AKA “RVR Tool”.
Test drive our RVR Tool the next time you need some solid, realistic advice to make an informed decision.
Here's the logic we use to calculate your recommendation:
REPAIR RECOMMENDED if the unit is...
- .1-5 years old and the repair cost is < 60% of the replacement cost
REPAIR AT RISK if the unit is...
- 6-8 years old and the repair cost is < 50% of the replacement cost
- 9-11 years old and the repair cost is < 40% of the replacement cost
- 12-14 years old and the repair cost is < 30% of the replacement cost
- 15+ years old and the repair cost is < 10% of the replacement cost
REPLACEMENT RECOMMENDED if the unit is...
- 1-5 years old and the repair cost is > 60% of the replacement cost
- 6-8 years old and the repair cost is > 50% of the replacement cost
- 9-11 years old and the repair cost is > 40% of the replacement cost
- 12-14 years old and the repair cost is > 30% of the replacement cost
- 15+ years old and the repair cost > 10% of the replacement cost
